Google+ fora for aSQLiteManager. Use this for questions, bug reports and feature requests.

aSQLiteManger is my open source SQLite manager for Android. You can find the latest production version on Google Play and be notified when new versions is available.

If you find errors in the translation or if you want aSQLiteManager in your own language. You can update the translation on crowdin All updates to the translations received with gratitude!

If you have wishes for new functionality - send me a mail. Some of the suggestions I see on the comments I receive when the app is rated have been implemented or I might need to ask some questions to understand exactly what is needed.

19 January 2014 - Version 4.4 released both as donate and standard version

  • Better handling of super users
  • Added android.permission.ACCESS_SUPERUSER as the app if granted super user privileges on rooted phones allow the user to modify system databases. This has no effect on not rooted phones.

10 December 2013 - Version 4.3 of the donate version is released on SlideMe to make it available for those of you who does not use GooglePlay. In the near future my other app's will appear there as well

20 nevember 2013 - Version 4.3 of aSQLiteManager released on Google Play as the donate version.

  • Now the record editor works with "primary key autoincrement not null"
  • Explore bitmaps BLOBS (png, jpeg, gif87a or gif89a)
  • CSV export now works with filters
  • Option to include field names in CSV exports
  • Filter now includes the "is null" and "is not null" operators
  • Editor can now be configured to use false/true or 0/1 for boolean values. Note that if this option is changed and you edit a database where boolean values are stored otherwise data becomes mixed. So use with care!
  • If you tap on a system catalogue from the standard file picker on a rooted device you are asked if you want to open it with the root file picker

12 may 2013 - Version 3.6 released on Google Play

  • New file picker with:

    2. Sorting (name, extension, size, date - ascending, descending, ignore case) and filtering of files (e.g. .sqlite;.db) in file picker
    3. Favorites directories for fast navigation to often visited places
  • Now the user dictionary are updated with your words
  • CSV export wizards that allows export of user selected fields
  • CSV import wizards that allows the user select a CSV file and which column from the CSV file to import into which fields in the current table.
  • Bug fixes - I think all reported bugs have been fixed. The support for editing views with on update triggers is better but the sloppy handling of field types makes this difficult as it is hard to figure out whether or not a field must be hyphenated during comparison. Thanks to all of you reporting and helping solve bugs!

4 april 2013 - Now it is possible to translate the app online. I am using the PHP Android String Translation Tool (PASTT) so now it is easy to enhance and update the translations. To update a translation or stat a new translagetin go to the aSQLiteManger translation page!

19 august 2012 - Version 3.3.1 released on Google Market

I am sory to say it but I introduced a bug in version 3.3. When I made it possible to insert text with quotation marks the app no longer could handle field names with spaces and field names like "on". This is solved in this release. There have also been time for a few extra features / enhancements, and a few other bug fixes.

  • In record editor table name are moved above the edit field
  • In record editor the back button are now ignored to prevent discard of data by accident
  • Maximal width of fields in data grid can now be configured to wrap long text to several lines. If max width is set to 0 (default) long fields will not be wrapped

Currently aSQLiteManager is translated to English, Danish, German, French, Italian, Catalan, Brazilian, and Spanish. More translations welcome!

Implemented functionality

The following functionality has been implemented in the SQLite manager (with indication of from which version the functionality was introduced):

  • Open databases from within aSQLiteManager and from some file managers (at least from OI File Manager, in Adao Teams File Manager and in Simplest File Manager) (1.0)
  • List tables, views and indexes (1.0)
  • Display data from tables and views (1.0)
  • The content of any cell clicked on are copied to the clip board (1.0)
  • Execute any SQL including 'Drop' / 'Create' statements (1.0)
  • Store all executed statements in the opened database (in a table called aSQLiteManager) (1.0)
  • Select SQL history from query form (1.1)
  • Begin transaction, Commit and Rollback (1.1)
  • Export database to SQL script and restore databases from script (1.1)
  • Export to ASCII file of query results (1.1)
  • Configuration of open database without question and reset of configuration (1.1)
  • Execute SQL scripts, full script or single lines (1.2)
  • Better error handeling during export and restore (1.2)
  • Data editing form table browser from Edit button at each row (1.2)

  • SQLite does not validata data types during data entry. aSQLiteManager translates this string into the following types and se this to set input mode (SQLite types i parenthesis). The translation is NOT case sensitive:

    • INTEGER(integer)
    • FLOAT (real, float, double)
    • DATE (date)
    • TIME (time)
    • DATETIME (datetime)
    • BOOLEAN (boolean, bool)
    • PHONENO (phoneno)
    • BLOB - for the time beeing the aSQLiteManager editor does not handle BLOB fields
  • Dump table from table view to file named Database.Table.sql- can be loaded by execute file as script (2.0)
  • Remember recently opened databases for quick access to often used databases (2.0)
  • BLOB fields no longer causes exceptions. But BLOB fields can not be added / altered (2.0)
  • SQL now saved in Query view (2.1)
  • Now works from aShell (2.2)
  • Database info (2.3)
  • Support table names and field names with spaces (2.4)
  • Fields in the table viewer are now colored based on the type of the field. As SQLite doesn't has field type validation the field type can differ from field type given with the create table statement (2.4).
  • Tables containing BLOB fields can be exported but NOT importet (2.4)
  • Now you get a SQL error if you enter invalid data during edithng of records (2.4)

When the aSQLiteManager binaries was on SourceForge India was the most downloading country. Now India is outside top 10 - I wonder why.
